Activate, the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board’s (PNCB) competency-building certificates and microcredentials, are engaging, expert-designed programs that provide deep, meaningful learning that increase confidence and competence to care for the pediatric population. These online, self-paced courses help strengthen the specific knowledge and skills you may already possess or want to enhance.
Activate certificates and microcredentials offer a unique professional development opportunity for professionals who care for children from infancy through young adulthood. Advance your knowledge and elevate care to meet the needs of children and adolescents. There are no eligibility or pre-requisite requirements to enroll.
Current Programs Available
CORE CONCEPTS IN ADOLESCENCE (earn 11.5 contact hours)
Courses in this program include:
- Foundational Concepts in Typical Adolescent Growth & Development
- Social Factors that Impact Health & Well-Being
- Effective Communication with Adolescents
- Global Voices: Experts Discuss Issues in Adolescent Health
$250 for the certificate program (includes certificate of completion and contact hours);
$100 additional to pursue the microcredential assessment and digital badge.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE IN ADOLESCENT HEALTH & WELL-BEING (earn 12 contact hours)
Courses in this program include:
- Seven Building Blocks for Adolescent Wellness
- Behavioral & Mental Health
- Sexual Health
- Safety, Risk & Injury Prevention
$250 for the certificate program (includes certificate of completion and contact hours);
$100 additional to pursue the microcredential assessment and digital badge.
CHILD AND ADOLESCENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH IN HOSPITAL AND SPECIALITY SETTINGS (earn 10 contact hours)
Courses in this program include:
- Foundations of Behavioral & Mental Health in Non-Primary Care
- Assessment, Environment, and Situational Awareness
- Communication and Collaboration
- Intervention and De-Escalation
- Continuous Improvement and Self-Care
- Practice Experience: Branching Scenarios
$250 for the certificate program (includes certificate of completion and contact hours);
$100 additional to pursue the microcredential assessment and digital badge.
Microcredential and Certificate of Completion
To earn contact hours and a certificate of completion, enroll in one of the programs.
- Within 90 days of enrollment, complete the courses and quizzes within.
- Earn a certificate of completion and accredited contact hours for nursing continuing education./li>
To earn a microcredential and digital badge:
- Within 60 days of earning a certificate of completion, sign up for the microcredential test (assessment).
- Complete the timed, closed-book, online test within 30 days of signing up.
- Upon passing, you’ll receive a pass email that includes access to a digital badge, tips for how to market your achievement, and details for renewing after 2 years.
Group Enrollments & Discounts
